The First Whistle: Our Women's Debut in Bern
23 October 2022 — the first-ever women's national team match ends 4-4 against SC Aegerten Brugg, and a programme is born.

On 23 October 2022, in Bern, Switzerland, Tamil Eelam's women played their first-ever international match — a thrilling 4-4 draw with SC Aegerten Brugg.
It was the culmination of the first women's national team trials, held in Bern under head coach Theepan A earlier that year. Four different scorers wrote their names into the history books: Inthuja, Kopika, Kaveri and Arisni.
The start of something special
An eight-goal debut was only the beginning. Within two years the team had selected a World Cup squad from 89 applicants across seven nations, travelled to Bodø, and reached the final of the CONIFA Women's World Cup 2024. Every programme has a first whistle — ours sounded in Bern.
