TAMIL EELAM ANNOUNCE WITHDRAWL FROM KURDISTAN 2024

STATEMENT: Withdrawal of Tamil Eelam Men’s National Team from the CONIFA World Football Cup Kurdistan 2024

Tamil Eelam Football Association has diligently undertaken preparations for the upcoming CONIFA Men’s World Football Cup 2024. However, our attention has been drawn to the security situation in the Middle East, prompting concerns within our organsation. In response, we conducted a thorough internal risk assessment and engaged in extensive discussions to prioritise the safety of our players and staff above all else. The instability prevalent throughout the Middle East presents an uncertain environment.

It is with heavy hearts the Tamil Eelam Football Association announces the withdrawal of the Tamil Eelam Men’s National Team from the CONIFA World Football Cup Kurdistan 2024 unless postponed or relocated to a safer option. This decision weighs heavily on us, particularly as we were eager to build upon the success of the CONIFA Asia Cup and compete among the world’s best. Additionally, we were enthusiastic about the opportunity to participate in Kurdistan, as our bond with the Kurdish community, both socially and politically, is deeply cherished and longstanding.

However, the well-being of our players and staff members remain our paramount concern. Unfortunately, there is no clear indication that the security situation in the surrounding regions will improve sufficiently within the next two months to ensure the safety of our players and staff. Therefore, after careful consideration and deliberation, we believe that withdrawing from the tournament is the responsible course of action.

We express our sincerest gratitude to CONIFA and the organisers of the World Football Cup Kurdistan 2024 for their understanding. We remain committed to fostering international camaraderie through football and look forward to future opportunities to participate in safe and secure competitions. Consequently, the training camp of the Tamil Eelam Men’s National Team scheduled for May 17th – May 22nd has been canceled.

However, the previously blocked dates between June 21st and July 6th remain reserved, and the team will expectantly convene during that period. We extend our sincere apologies to our supporters and hope for a swift resolution to the challenges facing the region.

CONIFA உதைபந்தாட்ட உலகக்கிண்ணம் குர்திஸ்தான் 2024பிற்போடப்படாமலோ அல்லது பாதுகாப்பான இடத்திற்கு மாற்றப்படாமலோ இருப்பின் தமிழீழ ஆண்கள் தேசிய அணியானது போட்டியிலிருந்து விலகுவதாக தமிழீழ உதைபந்தாட்ட சம்மேளனம் மிக மனவருத்தத்துடன் அறிவிக்கிறது. இந்த முடிவு எம்மைப் பெரிதும் பாதிப்படையச் செய்துள்ளது, குறிப்பாக எமது CONIFA ஆசியக்கிண்ணத்தின் வெற்றியினை தொடர்வதற்கும் உலகின் சிறந்த அணிகளுக்கிடையில் போட்டியிட்டு எமது தேசத்தை பிரதிநிதித்துவப்படுத்தவும் நாங்கள் மிகுந்த ஆர்வமாக இருந்தோம். அத்துடன், குர்திஸ்தானில் பங்கேற்கும் வாய்ப்பைப் பற்றி நாங்கள் எதிர்பார்ப்புடன் இருந்தோம். நீண்டகாலமாக குர்திஸ் மக்களுடனான எங்கள் உறவு, சமூக ரீதியாகவும் அரசியல் ரீதியாகவும், ஆழமாகப் மதிக்கப்படுகிறது.

இருப்பினும், நாங்கள் எமது வீரர்களினதும் மற்றும் அலுவலகர்களினதும் நலனையே கருத்திற்கொள்ளவேண்டியுள்ளது. துரதிஸ்டவசமாக, மத்திய கிழக்கிலும் அதனைச் சுற்றியுள்ள பகுதிகளிலும் நிலவும் பாதுகாப்பபில் தெளிவற்ற தன்மையும் மற்றும் அடுத்த இரண்டு மாதங்களில் மாற்றம் ஏற்படுவது போன்ற அறிகுறிகளும் தெளிவில்லாததால் எங்கள் வீரர்கள் மற்றும் அலுவலர்களின் பாதுகாப்பையும் கருத்திற் கொண்டு தீவிர பரிசீலனையின் பிரகாரம் இச் சுற்றுப்போட்டியில் இருந்து விலகுவதாக முடிவெடுத்துள்ளோம்.

CONIFA மற்றும் உதைபந்தாட்ட உலகக்கிண்ணம் சுற்றுப்போட்டி ஏற்றபாட்டாளர்களுக்கு அவர்களின் புரிந்துணர்வுக்கு எங்களது மனமார்ந்த நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம். சர்வதேசத்தில் உதைபந்தாட்டத்தை வளர்ப்பதில் நாங்கள் உறுதியாக இருப்பதோடு உதைபந்தாட்டம் மூலம் சர்வதேச நட்புறவுகளையும் மற்றும் எதிர்கால வாய்ப்புகளை எதிர்பார்த்து நிற்கிறோம்

இதன் காரணமாக, மே மாதம் 17 தொடக்கம் 22 திகதி வரை திட்டமிடப்பட்டிருந்த தமிழீழ ஆண்கள் தேசிய அணியின் பயிற்சி முகாம் நடைபெறமாட்டாது என்பதையும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம். எவ்வாறாயினும் சுற்றுப்போட்டிக்காக ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட ஜூன் 21 தொடக்கம் ஜூலை 6 ஆம் திகதி வரையான காலப்பகுதியில் தேசிய அணி வீரர்கள் ஒன்றுகூடுவதாக எதிர்பார்க்கிறோம்.
